Women in climate change

We all know that urgent action is required to reduce the impact of climate change. That's why Jackgreen Energy wants to make it easy to be green. The 1 Million Women campaign promotes such a philosophy.

As an ambassador for this campaign, I would encourage all women to join up. Our campaign's goal is to collectively cut 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas pollutant that's triggering climate change. Every woman who joins has a personal goal to cut 1 tonne of carbon dioxide from their daily lives within a year of joining.

As daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers, we inspire change everyday - so let's create a brighter future for our children.

As a mother of 2, I think it's important for us to take responsibility for educating our family about ways in which our behaviour can impact the climate. Simple actions such as recycling to using energy efficiency light globes really make a positive difference.

From natural disasters to everyday litter polluting our oceans,we're surrounded by the impacts of people not looking after the environment. Whether as an organisation, a community or an individual like myself, we can all make a difference. I joined the 1 Million Women campaign as a single step is sometimes all it takes to contribute towards the fight against climate change.

I become aware of climate change some years ago however had buried the issue. About 3 years ago I   started working with a company focused on climate change and providing cost effective solutions to cut greenhouse gas emissions. As I have learned more about the subject and the effect it has on the environment and on our daily lives, I realized that it is important for each one of us to make a change our day to day behaviours. I have started making little changes in my life such as reducing my water consumption, and switching to green energy. Joining the 1 million women campaign was one of the steps I took to do that extra bit for the future of our kids and environment.
